Postdoctoral Positions
There are several ways to obtain funding for a postdoctoral position in mathematical biology at McMaster:
The MacTheobio Group normally has at least one postdoctoral fellowship available each year. See Open Positions. Applications should be submitted on mathjobs (see ad).
Excellent postdoctoral fellowships are available to qualified candidates from any country from the Government of Canada. See Banting fellowships.
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) offers the H. L. Holmes award for postdoctoral studies every second year.
If you are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant then you can apply for an NSERC Postdoctoral fellowship.
In years that it is available, you can apply for the E.B. Eastburn Postdoctoral Fellowship. (See also previous Eastburn awardees.)
Postdoc positions are available every year in the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research (IIDR) including the prestigious Michael G. DeGroote Postdoctoral Fellowship Award.
You can also apply to The Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences for either the Jerrold E. Marsden Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship or a Thematic Program Postdoctoral Fellowship in years when there is a theme associated with mathematical biology. The Human Frontier Science Program offers long term and cross disciplinary fellowships. The Life Sciences Research Foundation offers fellowships in all areas of the life sciences.
US citizens can apply for a Fulbright Scholar Award.
Anyone can apply for a Branco Weiss fellowship.
Anyone can apply for a JSMF Fellowship.
Citizens in the UK or other Commonwealth countries can apply for a Research Fellowship from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851. The Government of Canada sponsors that Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship Program, which may be relevant if you are from a Commonwealth country.
If you are interested in working partly in an industrial setting, fellowships from MITACS may be of interest.
If you are computationally oriented then it may be possible to obtain postdoctoral funding through SHARC-Net.
If you are interested in conservation then you should consider applying for a Liber Ero Fellowship.
Some postdoctoral fellowship opportunities are listed by the McMaster School of Graduate Studies.
